The proverb “The pen is mightier than the sword” lives within the spirit of Andy Brand. I worked with Andy extensively through the early 2000s and continue today to stay connected with this man of many words who always has a story to tell.
Andy had a strong impact and influence on the bands we formed, including RTZ (which brought us to CBGBs) and SLING. His writing was second to none, never a cliché, always a story, with a slick style that always packed a punch.
While crafting an array of songs with SLING, I ramped up my writing skills by shadowing Andy. He was the pencil; I was the eraser as we relentlessly challenged each other to craft characters and stories that led to a collection of songs that remain a source of influence to this day.
Andy is steadfast with his original writing and rework of classic songs from his home base in Del Ray. I look forward to further writing and crafting songs with this talented artist!
