“Mellow hyperpop” is the genre depiction of David Handsman’s Cedarbread. To me, it’s the closest thing to a musical toybox that can ever exist and seriously, who doesn’t love a toybox?
Breaking down the genre, it’s definitely hyper as you never know what sound you may encounter, at any moment, and for how long. This arcade of sounds sits on top of musical mood swings that texture a vibe. At any second, you could be thumping, smiling, laughing, or introspecting. And this is not from song to song, this is WITHIN each song and I couldn’t be more captivated!
So when you grow restless of the traditional musical carousels as I often do, jump off and grab a ticket to ride Cedarbread. You can thank me now or thank me later for expanding your sound space.
Cedarbread streams on Spotify, SoundCloud with links available via Threads, Instagram and right here on the King’s Dust sound space.
